Chantal Kibbey Wins Bronze At French Nationals – Masters

Chantal Kibbey 1,500m Bronze Medal

Our very own in-house sports massage therapist Chantal Kibbey won a bronze medal at this week’s ‘Championnat de France des Maîtres’, swimming in the 35-39 age category. Her time was 21min 56sec, a PB!

The competition on the Masters circuit is tough, and the qualifying times for this year’s French Nationals event reflected this. Many swimmers were left ruing a missed opportunity as they failed to reach the qualifying times, which were on the whole much tougher than the recent LEN European Masters Championships where Chantal also performed very well.

This year’s National Championships are taking place at the fantastic pool at Canet-en-Roussillon, where Chantal trains. Canet 66 is also the club that has produced some of France’s top swimmers such as Florent Manadou.

The pool also plays host to the annual Mare Nostrum Swimming Events which sees top swimmers from around the world competing. This year many of the national teams present were using the event to prepare their athletes for Rio 2016. Here Chantal is in sports massage mode with South African swimmer Chad Leclos.
