Amélie-les-Bains: Warm Weather Triathlon Training
Warm Weather Training In France
Winter Triathlon Training Camps
Amélie-les-bains offers the perfect base for warm weather winter training. The average high temperature in the coldest months of December and January is 13° and you can see from the rainfall map below that we enjoy plenty of dry, sunny days.
Autumn And Spring Triathlon Training Camps
Autumn and spring offer near perfect triathlon training conditions in and around Amélie-les-Bains. We generally see only a handful of rainy days and the temperatures will hover between 16° and 23°, so perfect warm weather training conditions during the shoulder seasons.
Summer Triathlon Training Camps
Temperatures rise in summer so we adapt our training camps to suit the conditions. We make the most of the cooler temperatures and breezes in the mornings and enjoy pool sessions in the afternoons and evenings. Given that the top average temperatures never exceed 30° however, the summer is perfect for most of our athletes who adapt to the warm weather training conditions.
Ideal Terrain For Triathlon Training
The region has some truly unique and exceptional landscapes with constant views of green valleys, snow-capped mountains, river gorges and the sea. There are inviting networks of maintained forestry tracks, ideal for mountain biking and running, plus limitless kilometers of well-surfaced quiet roads with both challenging climbs or long straights for the road cyclist. The terrain is ideal for all levels and all ages of athletes.
Pools And Open Water Swimming
The outdoor five-lane 25-meter pool is just minutes from our doorstep (we use two other 50m pools when the weather is cooler), and the Mediterranean coastline with it’s long sandy beaches is only 30km away, allowing for ideal training rides with sunbathing and sea swimming sessions. Nearby rivers, and lakes provide further opportunities for open water swimming, a particular strength of the resident coach.
Amélie-Les-Bains Spa Town
The Centre is located in one of Frances most famous spa towns, providing you with further opportunities for relaxation, recovery and injury treatment.
Its excellent thermal baths offer a wealth of treatments to ease your tired limbs. Of course we provide our own in-house professional sports massage therapist too.
About Languedoc-Roussillon
The Languedoc and Roussillon region has a magnificent cultural heritage and vast historical wealth. Like much of France, Amelie celebrates good living and cultivates and supports its traditions, with daily markets selling local produce, festivals celebrating music of many forms (there is a huge international music and folk festival held here in Amelie in August) and exhibitions promoting the arts.
The region’s claim on being the epicentre of worldwide wine production seems well justified with 275,000 acres under vines! So there are many ‘caves’ and good wine cellars in the location…should you wish to sample some!
